Chaplaincy Program

Program Format

Each Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit comprises 400 hours: 100 hours of didactic instruction and 300 hours of clinical practice (internship). Units are offered every quarter (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter). This represents a typical full-time schedule that spans 12 weeks, with approximately 25 clinical hours per week (totaling 300 clinical hours) plus 100 didactic hours delivered across the term.

Accreditation & Board Certification

Pathway Upon successful completion, students earn four (4) CPE units through the Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training (ICPT), accredited by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET), a U.S. Department of Education–recognized accreditor. These units may be used toward eligibility to apply for chaplaincy board certification with a nationally recognized certifying body, subject to each board’s specific requirements.
