Pathway

The Bachelor/Associate of Arts in Social Work (BA or AA in Social Work) prepares students to become compassionate, competent, and culturally responsive professionals who serve individuals, families, and communities in need. Rooted in a foundation of human dignity, social justice, and ethical service, this program equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for entry-level positions in social services and human care fields—or for further graduate study in social work, counseling, or related professions.

Students in this program learn to:

  • Understand and apply key theories of human behavior and the social environment

  • Conduct needs assessments and deliver case management services

  • Advocate for marginalized populations and systemic change

  • Develop cultural humility and trauma-informed care practices

  • Work in diverse settings such as schools, healthcare, mental health, child welfare, and non-profits

  • Behavioral health aides

  • Support staff in child welfare or elder care

  • Entry-level roles in addiction services or crisis intervention

This degree also lays the academic foundation for those who plan to pursue a Master of Social Work (MSW) or licensure-based graduate degrees in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or clinical social work (LCSW).
